Description
I have genuine expertise in local government legal issues, including funding and financing matters (including rates, development and financial contributions), consultation, decision-making processes, governance issues, local elections and polls, official information and meetings issues, code of conduct matters, reviews and inquiries.
More broadly, I advise on issues relating to decisions. This includes challenging and defending the decisions of decision-makers in the courts.
As a barrister, I can provide legal advice to clients directly. In litigation matters I need to be instructed by a solicitor.
My career background includes working as a policy analyst at a council, a stint in a regional law firm, and nine years in a big firm in the local government and environment team working on local government issues each and every day advising many of New Zealand's local authorities.
While based in Whangārei, I am available for instructions throughout NZ.
